Psalms 59:16-17
But I will sing of thy power; yea, I will sing aloud of thy mercy in the morning: for thou hast been my defence and refuge in the day of my trouble. Unto thee, O my strength, will I sing: for God is my defence, and the God of my mercy
Often times we have a hard time getting up in the morning and praising God. David knew exactly how to start the day off right. He got up praising God dancing and singing out loud about the goodness of God. David made a daily choice to get up worshiping God because he wanted to be in God’s presence from the very moment he stepped out of bed. He wanted to be clothed in God’s power to assure himself that he could withstand the hardships he was facing. He wrote this psalm under incredible pressure. Saul had men watching over him waiting for the perfect time to kill him. But David knew the power that could be released when we worship God, even in the midst of trouble. There is power in lifting up our hands and just praising God. People that struggle with raising their hands or praising God aloud are really struggling with pride. They don’t want to be thought of as “weird” or “strange”. David was a mighty man of God, he was a musician and a warrior and had no problem lifting his hands to praise God. David knew that there is great power when we begin to lift our hands and truly move into his presence worshiping him. So don’t feel ashamed or afraid to praise God either in church or in your personal time. You need that personal time with God. We not only long to be in his presence but he longs for us to be there. That is why it is so important that we get up praising him and continue it throughout the day even through trials and tribulation.
